We love kid chefs! A few weeks ago I popped into the Atlanta auditions for MasterChef Junior. Although I wasn’t allowed to see the actual auditions, I did meet some very cool kid chefs (and their parents) who were waiting their turn to cook their little hearts out for the judges. These kids were every bit as passionate as the adult chefs I know.
One of the special kids I met was adorable 8-year old Brielle.
Only in the second grade Brielle is dedicated to creating delicious food, has amazing confidence in her abilities and has a great big heart – she wants to inspire kids to follow their dreams just as she is committed to making hers come true.
All that is wrapped in a winning smile!
Cooking with kids is not just about ingredients, recipes, and cooking. It’s about harnessing imagination, empowerment, and creativity. Guy Fieri
Diva Foodies Kid Chef Series highlights ~ ‘just kids’ who love to cook. But watch out because one day they maybe the next MasterChef Junior or perhaps the winner of a James Beard Award or even a Michelin Star.
Please meet Diva Foodies Kid Chef ~ Brielle!
Diva Foodies: Do you remember what the first thing you ever cooked or baked?
Kid Chef Brielle: The first thing I remember cooking is pizza with my mom. We would make personal pizzas and I would put on any topping I liked!
Diva Foodies: How old were you when you first started cooking?
Kid Chef Brielle: I remember cooking when I was in Pre-K. I was 4 years old.
Diva Foodies: What is your favorite dish to make and why?
Kid Chef Brielle: My favorite dish to make is salmon wellington. I really like the sauce and rolling out the puff pastry is fun!
Diva Foodies: WoW! Brielle, you need to give me some lessons! What is your favorite food to eat?
Kid Chef Brielle: My favorite food to eat is cheese pizza. It’s really good when its extra cheesy!
Diva Foodies: What’s your favorite kitchen tool and why?
Kid Chef Brielle: My favorite kitchen tool is the hand blender. It’s fun to use and I like making sauces with it!
Diva Foodies: Do you have a favorite cooking show? Why do you like it?
Kid Chef Brielle: Masterchef Junior is my favorite show. I get to see all different types of kids who love to cook just like me and have fun!
Diva Foodies: What was the best part of your experience auditioning for MasterChef Junior? Why?
Kid Chef Brielle: The best part of coming to the open call was meeting Jasmine and Justise! They were super nice to me and I look up to them.
Diva Foodies: Brielle, I enjoyed meeting Jasmine and Justise too when I met you (!) and they are for sure role models.
Note: By the way, check out the Diva Foodies Twitter interview with Jasmine, winner of MasterChef Junior 5. We had the pleasure of partnering with MasterChef Junior Casting to create a special #FoodTVChat promoting the Atlanta auditions.
Diva Foodies: Mom Krashelle how/when did you realize Brielle loved to cook and/or bake?
Mom Krashelle: When Brielle was a toddler, she would always ask to me to buy play food and she would imitate me in the kitchen. It wasn’t long before she was big enough to help me cook in the kitchen. This time with real food. She’s been in love ever since!
Diva Foodies: Anything else Kid Chef Brielle that you want to add?
Kid Chef Briell:
Even though I’m only 8 years old and I’m a kid doesn’t mean I can’t cook a big meal in the kitchen! I want to inspire all kids to follow their dreams no matter what! Even if they are small like me.
