First, in this odd new world we hope you are well, safe and as sane as possible. Not a surprise we find ourselves baking and cooking more and those 10 Covid-19 pounds are definitely creeping on.
The unexpected treats we’ve found are streaming shows where celebrity chefs casually cook in their homes. Three of our favorites are: Chef José Andrés, Chef Massimo Bottura, and Christina Tosi.
3 Celebrity Chef’s Live Stream Covid-19 Cooking At-Home
Chef José Andrés is loved for his selfless work literally feeding the world through the nonprofit organization World Central Kitchen #ChefsForAmerica. In addition, two of Chef’s innovative restaurants (30+) have won Michelin stars.
However, it’s the live streaming of Chef José cooking at-home with his family that endears him even more. Chef cooks, sings and dances. There is always with music in the background from Hamilton raps to Spanish ballads. The energy crackles with fun. It is a total feel good experience that always leaves me smiling.
Today for @WCKitchen #RecipesForThePeople Carlota and I, we're doing Cremat… a flaming rum drink in honor of my love for the Costa Brava on the Mediterranean! And we're singing the old song "El meu avi"….Try it at home, but don't burn yourself!! 🔥🍹😈👩🍳👨🍳 pic.twitter.com/OtDj6lX8Lb

Chef Massimo Bottura’s three Michelin star restaurant Osteria Francescana, located in Modena, Italy, has also been listed in the top 5 at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards. Along with his wife Laura Gilmore, Chef launched a nonprofit – Food For the Soul which addresses both food wastage and social vulnerability in a unique setting that builds community.
Chef Massmo’s at-home live cooking, Kitchen Quarantine, is also a family affair. His daughter Alexa and wife Laura are on-board to translate to ensure that both English and Italian speaking audiences are engaged. Watching Chef cook with his family, including son Charlie close at hand, is like being warmly invited to join a family dinner. At the end of the stream you just want to give Chef a hug, find out where Charlie got his cute PJs, and ask for the leftovers to take home!
Chef Christina Tosi, a James Beard award-winning pastry chef, also known for her innovative Cereal Milk baking at the Milk Bar restaurant, holds an interactive baking class, Baking Club, every day at 2pE. Chef bakes from her Brooklyn kitchen with her pup Butter (great name!) frequently joining in on the fun.
Her style is easy, breezy breaking best practice rules of of live digital video and in the process creating an engaging ‘girlfriend’ experience. For example, Chef Christina often steps out of the frame to wash her hands or to get an ingredient forgotten in prep. But it’s okay. It works because she sincerely seems to be having so much sharing and baking with her friends. It truly is like spending time with a special friend ~ which is a very good thing especially these days.
Drop a comment and let us know which live streaming cooking shows you’re watching.
In the meantime, please take good care!💛
